Starting from nothing in the midst of the Global Financial Crisis and the worst property downturn Queensland has ever seen, DC8 Studio opened the doors to a small workers cottage in January 2010.
From these humble beginnings and born from working together previously for a highly respected international development company, DC8 Studio now thrives from a kinship formed between the 6 founding members of the Studio. The business now operates from a converted warehouse in Newstead and an office in Kirribilli in New South Wales, with over 20 crew.
To date, the business has received awards in 2 national design competitions, the 2012 BRW Top 100 Fast Starters and the 2013 Telstra Business Awards.
DC8 Studio is a multi-disciplinary integrated design business with expertise in design and delivery of a wide range of projects in the fields of Architecture, Urban Design, Interior Design, Branding, and Visual Design.
The team of industry experts gives clients confidence they are always getting the best and most qualified advice for their project, with many years of experience in adding value through design, coupled with a collaborative approach that starts right at the beginning of each client relationship.
The focus is on achieving the best results for every project and budget, and maximising value through design for the community and environment.
Some notable projects include the Boggo Road Urban Village, RNA Residential project and a number of new ALDI stores.
“With a busy and growing studio we recognized the need for us to seek some expert advice in how we manage, support and facilitate our growth in a sustainable way. We had exhausted the capacity for us as designers to do so,” says director Riccardo Rizzalli.
“We have been incredibly fortunate to have sought out the services from John’s team at de Blonk Smith Young. In a very short time DBSY have brought an important sense of clarity and purpose to the business. In particular, John has given us invaluable advice on creating a financial framework that aligns to and supports our growth strategy, and from our perspective is as creative at problems in his field as we are in ours. In that we believe we have found a like minded business that shares our spirit of collaboration and creativity and we look forward to growing with the assistance of the team at DBSY.”
