Ruth and Calum Campbell’s business journey of yoga began 14 years ago when Ruth decided to follow her passion and train as a Yoga Teacher. As demand for living a more healthy lifestyle became apparent during the fast paced life of the early 21st Century, their yoga business grew, developed, and became an integral part of their lifestyle.
From humble beginnings of teaching a few local classes a week in Albany Creek and Warner on Brisbane’s northside, Pine Rivers Yoga has grown into a fully fledged business with its own purpose built studio. Driven by a passion to offer yoga as a Community Activity to all levels of practise, they have developed classes, workshops and trainings, in conjunction with trainers throughout Australia, to cater for the health and well being of 5 year olds to 95 year olds. (Yes, their oldest student, Margaret is 95 and their youngest, Lily, is 5!)
Ruth notes “The scope of the business has been supported by many enthusiastic students who value their personal connections with Pine Rivers Yoga. We ensure our teachers are well trained and meet a consistency of teaching that complies with the industry standards of Yoga Australia. Their compassion and “connection” to our students is pivotal in ensuring the business grows.”
Growth has inevitably brought its own challenges. Ruth notes that “We are fortunate that David from de Blonk Smith Young is not only a yoga student but a supportive business colleague who has guided our growth. His financial advice, experience and accountancy skills have enabled us to move seamlessly through the stages of growth from “hobby” to “sole trader” to “Company” structure and GST registration.”
“The practise of yoga changes peoples lives for the better.” says Ruth “The development of a successful business ensures that financial freedom can be used to contribute more to people’s lives. None of this growth happens without well trained teachers, efficient administration and the use of IT, web support, modern technology and marketing that delivers the desired outcomes. We are forever grateful to our website manager, administrator and David Young at de Blonk Smith Young for their guidance on many levels.”
