Can you improve your R&D success?

    By de Blonk Smith Young | Business Tips | 0 comment | 17 September, 2015 | 0

Every business, big and small, needs to continually improve to be sustainable and competitive. There should be a focus on both internal processes and products / services.

The first step to improve the results from your R&D activities is to understand and promote the real value of perseverance and risk taking. Risk is inherent in all R&D activities. Without a degree of risk there is unlikely to be any innovation.

To promote a culture of healthy risk taking there needs to be some tolerance of failure. People  involved in R&D activities need to do the following:

    • Identify when something goes wrong.
    • Try to fix the problem.
    • Persevere until there is a solution to the problem.
    • Don’t worry about problems before they happen.

The focus of the R&D activities should be on learning from the failures as much as the successes.

Also, do not forget to protect your new ideas with patents.

If you would like to learn more about how R&D can help your business, please contact John de Blonk Smith or  David Young or call us on 07 3221 4465.
